ADSO Committees that need volunteers
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee promotes involvement in the Arts and Design Society by inviting art class, workshop participants, and event attendees to join and enjoy member benefits, including reduced art class and show fees, monthly newsletters, and early event notifications.
The committee distributes brochures and membership forms throughout the community, assists with annual renewal notices, and helps plan the annual fall Membership Drive Gathering. Members also welcome new and prospective members at events, fostering a warm and inclusive arts community.
Workshop & Classes Committee
The Workshops & Classes Committee oversees the smooth operation of the Workshop Center and manages the annual class calendar. The committee coordinates a diverse range of classes and presents special quarterly workshops in painting, clay, and other engaging art media designed to inspire both members and the broader community.
In addition, the committee organizes and hosts the annual Kids Fine Art Camp each summer, fostering creativity and artistic growth in young artists.
Gallery Committee
The Gallery Committee plans the annual schedule of gallery shows and oversees all exhibition logistics. Responsibilities include coordinating artwork drop-off and pickup, installing each exhibition, and organizing opening receptions.
Opening receptions provide great opportunities for volunteers to help facilitate all aspects of the event, including the fun during “Battle of the Brushes” events. Gallery Sitter volunteers ensure the gallery is welcoming and well-staffed as needed for exhibitions.
Ways & Means Committee
The Ways & Means Committee identifies and pursues funding opportunities to support the mission of ADSO. The committee seeks financial support from individuals, businesses, and community partners, and researches and applies for local, state, and federal grants. Through strategic fundraising efforts, the committee helps ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the organization.
Building & Renovation Committee
In fall 2025, the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach was awarded a $100,000 Impact 100 grant to renovate our historic building. With additional support from the Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club and landscaping assistance from the Garnier Beach Garden Club, we are revitalizing our courtyard and enhancing both the interior and exterior of the facility, including improved shelter and safer parking.
A key project is remodeling our main classroom, the clay room, along with replacing its HVAC system to create a clean, organized, and professional creative space. This spring, we will also begin new landscaping efforts and welcome volunteers to help with planting and ongoing garden maintenance.
Luncheons & Programs Committee
The Luncheons & Programs Committee curates engaging and inspiring speakers for our monthly luncheon, selecting individuals whose work, experience, and insights resonate with and enrich our arts community. The committee coordinates all program details and ensures timely communication by providing speaker information to our website coordinator and newsletter editor so the broader membership is well informed.
Luncheons are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Arts and Design Society gallery. In addition to featuring a guest speaker, each luncheon also serves as a general membership meeting, offering members an opportunity to connect, learn, and stay involved in ADSO activities.
