The coastal landscape is a beautiful and very distinct one painted by artists for thousands of years. We’ll take a fun approach to learning to see it differently and translate it into something more abstract in look and feel. Here’s some of what we’ll do:
- Look at the specific characteristics of the coastal landscape.
- We’ll look at ways to move from thinking about “things” to “shapes.”
- We’ll translate the specific coastal light into “values.”
- We’ll transform the way we see by removing ourselves from the “thingness” of the landscape.
- We’ll do pre-planning through preliminary drawings and value study paintings.
- We’ll have fun!
This workshop is not only about painting abstract landscape compositions, but also about learning to loosen-up and paint more freely. All who attend will be able to apply the lessons learned to their own style of painting in their studios.
